WAYS TO PREVENT CRACKS AND BUMPS

•  Use a metal/rubber/wooden rib to smooth surfaces

•  Use a damp (no drips) sponge to smooth surfaces

•  Use the wooden and green plastic tools to smooth

•  Use a wooden paddle to smooth outside of project

•  MAKE SURE ALL THE CLAY YOU ARE WORKING WITH HAS THE SAME AMOUNT OF MOISTURE! This helps prevent clay from shrinking at different rates and cracking.

•  Treat your clay gently, yet still tell it what to do

-If you pinch or squeeze too tight, the clay cracks
-If you are rough with the clay, it tears
-If you lift it by the rim, the edge can snap off

•  DON'T LET YOUR CLAY DRY OUT - It breaks when it's dry!

•  Double bag your projects!
